Pixxel is a space-technology company operating a constellation of hyperspectral imaging satellites that capture Earth data across hundreds of narrow spectral bands, enabling detection of methane leaks, crop stress, mineral deposits, and water contamination at a level of chemical detail conventional multispectral satellites cannot resolve ¹². Founded in 2019 by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal (both BITS Pilani alumni), the company operates dual headquarters in Bengaluru, India and Los Angeles, California and counts BASF, Rio Tinto, and multiple national defense and intelligence agencies among its customers ¹²⁴.

On September 7, 2026, Pixxel closed a $100 million Series C round co-led by Temasek and Seraphim Space, with participation from 360 ONE Asset, IMM Investment, Radical Ventures, and growX Ventures — the company’s largest single funding event to date, bringing total funding to $195 million ¹³⁴. Inc42 reported (citing Economic Times) that the round valued the company between $400M and $450M post-money, making it the largest single funding round to date for an Indian spacetech company ⁴. Proceeds will fund the Honeybee constellation, high-resolution optical imaging satellites, expansion of the Aurora Earth-intelligence platform, and scaling of the Gigapixxel manufacturing facility (capacity: 40 satellites annually) ⁴.
